Clerkenwell Design Week 2025

Inspiration, News, Stories

During Clerkenwell Design Week 2025, Sixteen3’s Bastwick Street Showroom underwent a remarkable transformation, inviting visitors to explore the relationship between design, neuroscience, and sensory experience. In partnership with Crown Paints, this year’s Design Interventions event challenged traditional assumptions about what makes a space “work,” blending expert insight with interactive exploration.

Design Interventions Programme

At the heart of the experience were a series of hands-on sensory experiments that brought inclusive design principles to life. Activities ranged from a colour matching test inspired by the Munsell system, to moodboarding with simulated sensory impairments.

A standout moment of the week was the keynote talk, Why Does My Brain Like It Here?, delivered by Dr. Stephanie Fitzgerald. The Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist captivated attendees with insights into how different factors affect how we perceive and feel in the spaces we inhabit. The talk highlighted the importance of neurodesign and offered actionable ideas for creating more inclusive, comfortable environments.

New Product Launches

Alongside the interactive programming, we also unveiled several new furniture collections built around our clear design & sustainability principles. The launch of our new light work chair Piper at Work, coffee/side table collection Jazz, relaxed Maru stools or plush modular sofa Quinn, reinforce our commitment to thoughtful, human-centred design — offering comfortable, supportive spaces that empower users among the dynamics of everyday life.

Architects’ Journal x sixteen3

We wrapped up an incredible few days with a special celebration hosted in partnership with Architects’ Journal as part of the AJ Goes OUT programme. The event marked the launch of AJ’s May Issue ‘Out’; a powerful edition spotlighting LGBTQI+-led practices, industry voices, and projects shaping a more inclusive, equitable built environment.
