Escaping into nature is a tried and tested way of disconnecting from the monotony of the daily grind, ideal for unwinding and recharging.
During Clerkenwell Design Week 2022 the sixteen3 London showroom will be transformed into a tranquil retreat, where visitors are invited to experience the physiological benefits of nature first hand.
This transformation is inspired by the iconic Barbican Conservatory, a local marvel of biophilic design. It’s the second largest conservatory in London and is home to over 2000 species of plants and trees. With the installation of the ‘Bastwick Conservatory’ sixteen3 seek to capture some of this rainforest style grandeur on a more compact, workplace-friendly scale to demonstrate the power of plants.
Scientific evidence proves that exposure to plants, and nature as a whole, positively affects our emotions, contributes to our physical well-being, and also reduces blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and stress hormone production.
The highly-versatile ‘Link’ seating system, with its simple, pared-back appearance, has been used to border the raised planting areas, providing a space that allows a small escape from day-to-day stresses and leaves visitors feeling re-energized and re-connected.
Visitors are also offered a moment of mindfulness and an opportunity to flex their green fingers with a chance to pot their own carefully grown seedling to take with them, spreading the pleasure of plants throughout Clerkenwell.
