Curious Places for Conversation — now available as a podcast

Inspiration, News, Stories

The first event in our sixteen3 Salon series explored a simple but timely question: how do we create places that genuinely foster conversation, connection and community?

Chaired by design journalist and podcaster David Taylor, the evening brought together three distinct voices: design writer Emma O’Kelly, and architects Jennifer de Vere Hopkins (Jestico + Whiles) and Russell Brown (Hawkins\Brown).

From the communal rituals of global sauna culture, to the overlooked social power of lobbies, lifts and loos, and the role of architecture in encouraging people to meet and exchange ideas in everyday settings, the discussion traced how designed moments of interaction can shape more humane, generous places.

The conversation was recorded live at our Bastwick Street showroom and is now available to listen to as the first-ever Detailer Live episode, part of David Taylor’s Detailer podcast series.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the night — and to David, Theresa Simon and our speakers for helping set the tone for what the Salon series hopes to be: a platform for open, curious and generous debate around the built environment.
